Update - Great minds think alike, . . . and so do ours. Rebecca Writes did her only little thing on Princess Bride quotes a few days ago.
My buddy Terry at Pruitt Communications posted about AFI's Top 100 Movie Quotes, which he found out from Notes from the Front Lines. Terry included his own favorite movie quote, which is from Dr. Emmet Brown in Back to the Future:
"Don't worry! As long as you hit that wire with the connecting hook at precisely eighty-eight miles per hour the instant the lightning strikes the tower ... everything will be fine!"
I have to admit that I have seen Back to the Future many times and have heard that line many times and it never registered with me just how funny it was until I read it on Terry's blog. That one definitely should have been in AFI's top 100.
For me, all of my favorite movie lines come from Rocky and the Princess Bride. On the AFI list I think the only Rocky quote was "Yo Adrian." I can't remember seeing any on the AFI list from the Princess Bride, but maybe I just didn't pay close enough attention. So, as an alternative to the AFI favorite movie quotes, I present you with the JFI (Jolly's Film Institute) favorite movie quotes, all of which are from Rocky and the Princess Bride.
Quotes from Rocky:
Mickey - Women weaken legs!
Reporter:
Rocky do you have something derargatory to say about the champ?
Rocky Balboa:
Derargatory? Yeah, he's great.
Rocky Balboa: I was wonderin' if, uh, you wouldn't mind marryin' me very much.
Interviewer:
Do you hate Rocky?
Clubber Lang:
No, I don't hate Balboa. I pity the fool.
Interviewer:
What's your prediction for the fight?
Clubber Lang:
My prediction? Pain.
There is one other quote where Rocky and Adrian are looking at a place to live and Rocky adds up the numbers in the address and it comes to a number which is a lucky number for him and he says it's a good omen. You have to hear him say it, but it is hilarious.
And the all-time best Rocky quote is . . . "Hey Paulie, don't get mentally irregular."
Here's a good site for Rocky quotes.
Quotes from the Princess Bride
Basically the whole movie is quotable, but here are my favorites.
Miracle Max: Don't rush me sonny. You rush a miracle man, you get rotten miracles.
Valerie: I'm not a witch, I'm your wife.
Westley: We are men of action, lies do not become us.
Inigo Montoya: That Vizzini, he can *fuss*.
Fezzik: Fuss, fuss... I think he like to scream at *us*.
Inigo Montoya: Probably he means no *harm*.
Fezzik: He's really very short on *charm*.
Inigo Montoya: You have a great gift for rhyme.
Fezzik: Yes, yes, some of the time.
Vizzini: Enough of that!
Inigo Montoya: Fezzik, are there rocks ahead?
Fezzik: If there are, we all be dead!
Vizzini: No more rhymes now, I mean it!
Fezzik: Anybody want a peanut?
Vizzini: DYEEAAHHHHHH!!
Vizzini: Move the "thing". And that other "thing"!
Inigo Montoya: He's right on top of us. I wonder if he is using the same wind we are using.
Vizzini: HE DIDN'T FALL? INCONCEIVABLE!
Inigo Montoya: You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means.
Inigo Montoya: You seem a decent fellow. I hate to kill you.
Westley: You seem a decent fellow. I hate to die.
Inigo Montoya: Who are you?
Westley: No one of consequence.
Inigo Montoya: I must know...
Westley: Get used to disappointment.
Man in Black: You mean, you'll put down your rock and I'll put down my sword, and we'll try and kill each other like civilized people?
Buttercup: You mock my pain!
Westley: Life is pain, Highness! Anyone who says differently is selling something.
Buttercup: We'll never survive!
Westley: Nonsense! You're only saying that because no one ever has.
Prince Humperdinck: Tyrone, you know how much I love watching
you work. But I've got my country's 500th anniversary to plan, my
wedding to arrange, my wife to murder, and Guilder to frame for it. I'm
swamped!
Count Rugen: Get some rest. If you haven't got your health, you haven't got anything.
Miracle Max: Have fun stormin' da castle!
Valerie: Think it'll work?
Miracle Max: It would take a miracle.
Inigo Montoya: Let me 'splain. [pause] No, there is too much. Let me sum up.
Prince Humperdink: I don't think I'm quite familiar with that phrase.
Westley: I'll explain. And I'll use small words so that you'll be sure to understand, you warthog-faced buffoon.
And, here's a site with a collection of Princess Bride quotes.
Love the Princess Bride quotes. I just found a site with Seinfeld quotes:

IMHO, the most quotable movie ever has got to be Army of Darkness with Bruce Campbell. Mostly one liners like:
"Come get some!"
"Wait. It's a trick. Get an axe."
"Good, bad. I'm the guy with the gun."
and of course:
Her: "You found me beautiful once."
Him: "Baby, you got real ugly."

David,
Have you seen Napoleon Dynamite? This has some great quotes but if you haven't seen the movie you won't get them. I like this one:
Napoleon Dynamite: [referring to Deb's milk] I see you're drinking 1%. Is that 'cause you think you're fat? 'Cause you're not. You could be drinking whole if you wanted to.
You can hear some of them here: http://www.albinoblacksheep.com/flash/ndsound.php
You gotta love the quotes from my favorite movie "Life is Beautiful." Here is one I particularly like:
Guido: You can lose all your points for any one of three things. One: If you cry. Two: If you ask to see your mother. Three: If you're hungry and ask for a snack! Forget it!
I share your affinity for "The Princess Bride." It is one of the funniest movies and has some good morals to the story. Too bad Andre the Giant didn't star in more movies ;-).
Enjoy,
Brian

Along the Army of Darkness lines:
"Gimme some sugar, baby!"
And from it's prequel:
"Groovy."
"Then let's head on down into that cellar and carve ourselves a witch."
And yeah, Napoleon Dynamite has probably more quotable lines than any movie in history.I knew nearly every line of the movie before I had even seen it simply for its profusion of quotes rampant in modern American culture. Even more than Princess Bride - which may get second place for most quotable movie.

I've found there are very few moments in life that can't be enhanced with a "Princess Bride" quote!

Great minds do think alike, indeed! I blogged about the 100 Top Movie Quotes last Tuesday:
http://cindyswanslife.blogspot.com/2005/06/frankly-my-dear.html
...and voiced my indignation that nothing from "The Princess Bride" made the list. For shame, AFI! :)

But you left off the best one!
"As you wish."

Come on! The BEST Princess Bride quote is:
"Love is the greatest thing in the world. Except for a nice MLT. Mutton, lettuce and tomato, where the mutton is nice and lean. Tst tst tst. It's so perky. I love that"
I absolutely adore Napolean Dynomite, but there's no way it's more quotable than Princess Bride. Seineld tops it too. I think it depends on your age. I work hard not to quote Seinfeld. I teach 7th graders, so they don't get it.
