From the movie "Dodgeball."
Peter La Fleur: Uh, actually I decided to quit... Lance.
Lance Armstrong: Quit? You know, once I was thinking about quitting when I was diagnosed with brain, lung and testicular cancer, all at the same time. But with the love and support of my friends and family, I got back on the bike and I won the Tour de France five times in a row. But I'm sure you have a good reason to quit. So what are you dying from that's keeping you from the finals?
Peter La Fleur: Right now it feels a little bit like... shame.
Lance Armstrong: Well, I guess if a person never quit when the going got tough, they wouldn't have anything to regret for the rest of their life. But good luck to you Peter. I'm sure this decision won't haunt you forever.

ouch.

So there you have it, David! A future in bicycling! :-) I know you are not gonna quit this--the biggest and most important fight of your life. And you are blessed to have the love, support, and prayers of family, friends and probably strangers, even! I praise God for how He is using this and will use it and your testimony that you have shared as you have gone through what you have thusfar. I don't think you are supposed to feel bad, tho, if some days you give in to some negative feelings. I think that is supposed to be normal. Love from Florida, where it is sunny and 50ish, rather than snowy and cold like where you are! :-)

I'm not a doctor, but I heard something regarding Diabetes that corresponds to what Armstrong did. They say if a diabetic gets *not just* exercise, but the kind of exercise that causes you to go to your limit (muscles burn, out of breath, etc.) - even if just for seconds a day - then it changes the body's chemistry and in diabetics increases their ability to produce insulin, etc. And Armstrong I sense did the same thing with that exercise bike he had in his hospital room. I think it sends the entire body into a higher state of efficiency including with immune system abilities.
