Every now and then I'll tell you about a device I have acquired and liked or some other product. So, I got the bright idea that I ought to do product reviews of these things.
Of course there is no ulterior motive here, I mean, I wouldn't say I'm hoping that gadget and gizmo makers would start sending me there stuff free for me to review, or things like that - of course I wouldn't do that. Well, maybe I would. In fact, let me just say up here that if someone from Apple wants to send me one of the new 17 inch MacBooks to review I would be more than happy to do so. I'm also willing to review TV's, camera equipment and all kinds of stuff.
But seriously folks - here's my first review - the ALL-ETT billfold. I drive my wife crazy with my pickiness in some things. I know it's a sin, but it's one that seems to beset me. For years now I have been looking for the perfect wallet. Wallets are one of the things that I am extremely picky about.
But I heard about the ALL-ETT wallet from a blog and it was billed as the world's thinnest wallet, so I had to give it a try.
It says it is "thin as a dime" and you can find pictures like the one above on several review sites. All of these pics are a variation on the same theme. The wallet on the right is the standard wallet full of credit cards. The wallet on the left is the ALL-ETT, with the same number of credit cards.
I can vouch for the folks at ALL-ETT, the pics are authetic. They have a way of stacking the cards in the wallet that thins out the wallet. It's not quite dime-size but it is very thin. And this is a good thing for those of us who have fat-wallet syndrome.
The one they push the most is "The Original" and it is the one I bought first. It is made of rip stop nylon, which is very thin and very durable. However, it makes a crinkly sound which can be a bit annoying. So, here comes confession time - I liked it but didn't like the crinkly sound so I wrote the folks at ALL-ETT and asked if they would send me a leather one for a review.
I understand that you could argue that this clouds my review but I will say that I am very happy with the leather wallet - which is actually called the "Executive Leather."
Because it is leather it is ever so slightly thicker than the original. But it is ever so much thinner than the standard wallet that I have nothing but praise for it. In fact, if I had to criticize it I would say the only problem is that you may forget you are carrying it. I've been carrying this for almost a month now and am very satisfied with it.
So, I can highly recommend the ALL-ETT. If you want to save about $15, go for the original - there's really nothing wrong with it - it will do the job of a wallet very well. But I like the feel of the leather one and the absence of crinkling, so I think it's worth paying a little more for it.

You convinced me. I just ordered the "Executive Leather" from their website. I made sure to not that I heard about it from this blog so that they'd see the wisdom in sending it to you for review. ; )

Yeah, I love these. The nylon one has been fine for me. Probably depends a bit on what type of pants you wear. Maybe I'll buy the leather one as my "dress" wallet :-)

Ha! Funny that you should post on this. I just bought one of these (Executive Leather, too) after hearing (or reading) about these on the Clark Howard Show. He had given a heads up that the original ones were ugly and that the leather ones look nicer. I can vouch for it, too, although there is definitely a limit to how many cards you can stuff into it. I had a really bulky wallet before.

Hmmm...if a PCA preacher says so, it must be true! So we whipped out the credit card & sent in an order for 2: one for L & one for B. Looking forward to the day when the sacroiliacs say, "Thank you!" for a change :-)

I have the "European", I guess (it was called something different when I bought it), and love it. I know what you mean about the crinkly sound of the nylon, but it softens after a few weeks of use and isn't an issue. My biggest problem is that it's so small sometimes I can't feel it and think I've forgotten it somewhere!

Yeah, I've got one of the nylon ones, too. I like it a lot. One thing that took some getting used to is how light it is. My old wallet was thick enough that I could hold the front of it, and used gravity to pull the back down when I wanted to get access to the bills. This doesn't work the same way with the All-ett; you sort of have to pry the bill compartment open with your fingers.

Product reviews can give us the pros and cons of certain products from people who have already used these items before. That way, it is easier for us to decide whether to purchase an item or not.
