A new verb - Favre - as in "to Favre"
I found a new word today - the verb form of "Favre." The noun often preform is often preceded by the name "Brett," but it can now be used as a verb. I found it today in Peter King's Monday Morning QB column for Sports Illustrated. Here's the original context:
Martin Brodeur is going to Favre the record for hockey goalies. In other words, he'll put them pretty far out of reach for a while.
So, to "Favre" is to set a record that is beyond, or nearly beyond" reach. With this in mind, here's a few examples of things that have been Favred.
Given that Bob Beamon's world record long jump of 29 ft, 2.5 in was thought to be unbreakable and stood for 23 years, I'm going to say that Mike Powell Favred the long jump record with his 1991 jump of 29 ft. 4.5 inches.
Here's a list of 10 Favred' records.
But the most notable Favring of a record has to go to Tim Challies - he has definitely Favred the record for most consecutive days blogging - congratulations Tim!
