Here's a note to anyone reading my blog in the Baltimore area. There is currently a fascinating discussion going on at Facebook on the Baltimore network. I don't think the rest of you will be able to read it if you are not a member of the Baltimore network, but for those of us who are thinking about being missional in Baltimore and its environs, here's a great opportunity for insight into our little slice of the culture.
The title of the thread is "Why aren't you a born again Christian?" I hate to dis a brother, but the intro post that kicked off this thread is 100% guaranteed to start a fight:
I'm curious, but for anyone who is still living in sin, why have you not accepted Jesus as Lord and repented of your sins to become born again?
Needless to say, that intro didn't go so well and got slapped back at him pretty strongly with the first response:
Because you have to be Christian to believe you are living in Sin?
You are being a reverse magnet to everyone, Let everyone believe in what they want to believe.
You can talk about your religion and what its about, I LOVE learning about all religions. but don't tell people they are wrong.
Anyway, this is interesting - not only to see how those who aren't "born again" are thinking but to look at how Christians are interacting with and reacting on the net. As I write this there are 565 posts by 120 different people.
And btw, after that horrible beginning the initiator of the thread gets more humble as he goes along, at least in the posts I've seen so far.
