A Reformed-Emerging Conversation

Stephen Shields of Emergesque and I live very close to one another here in the Baltimore area, we have read each other's blogs for a couple of years now but have never met.  So, we have been corresponding a bit by e-mail over the last couple of weeks and are planning a face to face get together next week.

Those of you who are familiar with Stephen and his blog and his ministry at Faithmaps will know that he is one of the leading voices in the blogosphere on the emerging movement, and I don't know if I should claim the title "leading voice" but I am definitely neck deep in the blogosphere's reformed community.

Because of this the two of us have been brainstorming some ways that we can foster conversation within the reformed and emerging communities, and are working on a project to that end that I hope to tell you about soon.

Tim Keller recently left a comment on Steve McCoy's blog to the effect that these discussions usually don't to anywhere and generate more heat than light.   Unfortunately, I think Tim is right, but Stephen and I are hoping to take a stab at changing that, so stay tuned.

In the meantime let me encourage you to check out this post where Stephen gives a good run down on some of the latest conversation in the blogosphere on the emerging church.
