I found a couple of new Google tools for Firefox tonight that I thought all of you Firefox folks might like.
First of all, I think most Firefox users probably know that version 1.5 is out now. You can download it here if you don't have it.
And, the Google Toolbar for Firefox 1.5 is now available here. As I understand it, the old Google Toolbar for Firefox was from a third party. And, to my knowledge it hasn't been working with version 1.5. This one is from Google themselves and installs just as it does in Internet Explorer. One thing I noticed immediately about it is that this one includes the pagerank feature, which the other toolbar didn't.
But my favorite find of the night is the Blogger Web Comments Extension for Firefox. If you install this, whenever you go to any web page it will give you a little window (on mine it comes up in the bottom right hand corner of my screen - I suppose it is that way for everyone) notifying you of any and all blogs that are commenting on that page. It posts an excerpt from the first comment on that particular page and provides a button which takes you to a google blogsearch page listing all of the comments on that page.
Google also has a new Safe Browsing Extension that "alerts you if a web page that you visit appears to be asking for your personal or financial information under false pretences." I suppose this is for people who believe those e-mails telling you that you need to update your bank account or check into your paypal or some other account that has been compromised. I have to confess I nearly fell for one a few days ago. It was a paypal thing that looked very authentic. I only caught it because I saw the actual url before I clicked on it so looks like these folks are getting shneakier and shneakier.
Hope some of this is useful to you!
