I can't remember which post it was, but Adrian Warnock had a post about how he either got acquainted with an old friend through blogging, or met someone who knew someone or something like that. He commented that blogging had brought them together. In fact, if you have read mine and Adrian's blogs over any time you have seen that we have become quite good friends through blogging, though we have never met and are separated by an ocean.
Well, blogging comes through again. The other day I got an e-mail from a guy named Rob who lives in Orlando and works for Campus Crusade. He was checking out my blog and found that we were in the same denomination. He didn't think I would, but he wondered if I had ever heard of his church. Turns out I know several people in his church. I was ordained in the presybtery of which his church is a member, knew his pastor from that, and I also was friends with two of the associates. I even am acquainted with an elder in his church.
Just thought that was kind of neat - here's two guys separated by hundreds of miles who have many similar acquaintances and who have been introduced through blogging.
Rob has a blog, and a good one at that - it's a fun blog and you ought to go check it out when you get a chance. He's also got a lot of information about his ministry with Campus Crusade for Christ, so go give him a visit and tell him Jollyblogger sent you.
Rob's blog is called OrangeJack.

You think you've got a connection? Prepare to be floored.
Rob works with my brother.

I owe Campus Crusade mucho mucho. They discipled me just after I accpted Christ in college. Here is another weird one. Last week at the Christian Carnival I found Neil Uchitel's blog. He talked about where he grew up, where he attended college and what he majored in. I thought..isn't that interesting...I grew up in that area, went to that universtiy and majored in that too. Then he told how he had a Pentecostal orientation but attended a more evangelical PCUSA church. I thought..well..isn't that a coincidence. I consider myself a "Pentecostal Presbyterian" and attend a PCUSA church that is more evangleical too. In fact, after consulting my church directory, I found that the church he attends is mine..LOL.
He wrote about this yesterday on his blog, Digitus, Finger & Co.

One of the first blogs I ever read was from Mean Dean at Heal Your Church Website. In one of his stories he talks about how he loathes going to Home Depot and started explaining why this was the case. As he described the store I realized that he was talking about the one right down the road from me. Doing a bit of sluething it turned out that Dean lives within walking distance of my house and that my wife and him were in the same graduating class in HS. It truly is a small world afterall.
