Here is what passes as a "a spiritual case for the "choice" options in the sexual revolution." This from the Rev. Ignacio Castuera, the United Methodist pastor who is now the official chaplain to Planned Parenthood.
In all of creation, we are the sexual and spiritual elite. We're one of the few creatures for which sex is far more than reproduction. We know that God created other beings with reproductive months or cycles. We practically go from womb to tomb with sexual interest. Only a few primates accompany us on that journey of lifelong sexuality. We should humbly accept that gift, with a word of thanks, and find out what God intended that gift to be.So, from there I suppose he makes the logical leap that says our sexual "eliteness" authorizes abortion. Left out of his quote is any engagement with the debate over whether or not the "product of abortion" is a living human being. Newsflash - the "product of abortion" is what the old-timers used to call a "baby" a living, breathing human being. So, as the sexual elite, we are authorized by our elevated status to commit murder. And this in the name of God.
Mr. Castuera, I have a question for you - do you really want to find out what God intended "that gift to be," or do you want find a rationale to authorize what you and others like you want that gift to be?
If you want to find out what God intends are you willing to consider the Bible as an indicator of God's intention? If so, your search is over. God says, abstain before marriage - then get married - then have babies - keep them and raise them. Its not very complicated.
